There are so few genuinely talented female guitarists. A short list might include Nancy Wilson, Bonnie Raitt and, um, Lita Ford? But it would certainly include Sue Foley, the Ottawa-born roots-rock sweetheart known to swath the stage in blue and burn the mother down. Still in her mid-30s, Foley has already released nine albums, including this year’s acoustic gem Change, and she’s long been part of a thriving Austin Antone’s-bred blues scene that includes such unforgettable performers as Toni Price and Guy Forsyth. In her spare time, she works on Guitar Woman, a historical document of women guitarists around the world. Foley is certainly one of the best; check her out this Thursday for a little slice of history.
