Identity Festival Friday, August 10, at Gexa Energy Pavilion Identity Festival pretty much marks the greatest day of the year for EDM fans, as almost 20 of the world's top DJs take the stage at Gexa Energy Pavilion. DJs at this year's festival include Eric Prydz, Wolfgang Gartner and more. Stay hydrated.

Monte Montgomery Thursday, August 9, at Palladium Ballroom Monte Montgomery is a fairly well known Texas guitar virtuoso. In recent years, he hasn't come around as often as he used to, so this is a good chance for fans to catch him again.

Aesop Rock Thursday, August 9, at Granada Theater Aesop Rock is yet another in the growing list of hip-hop artists recently booked at the Granada. His lyrical style is regarded either as brilliant or incoherent. Go to the Granada tonight and see which camp you fall in.

Butch Hancock Thursday, August 9, at All Good Cafe Texas legend Butch Hancock, known for his time in the Flatlanders, will play an intimate show tonight at All Good Cafe in Deep Ellum. It's the perfect venue for Hancock, with a vibe as close to Austin as you can get in Dallas.

The Deathray Davies, Slobberbone, Calhoun Friday, August 10, at The Kessler Theater Classic local pop act The Deathray Davies don't get together as often as they used to. John Dufilho is juggling several projects, including the gig as drummer for Apples in Stereo. The rest of the group is busy with side projects as well. They got their schedules to line up for this show, which is one of the weekend's top bills.

Hal Samples Benefit Friday, August 10, at Dada This show, benefiting local artist and photographer Hal Samples, will feature GalleryCat, Hares On The Mountain, Yells At Eels, Seryn and more. Samples had some medical costs that caught up to him. Luckily, he had some friends who wanted to help him out by putting on this great lineup.

Stella Fest 2012 Friday and Saturday at Hailey's Club Stella Fest 2012 is easily the most exciting thing going on in Denton this weekend. Put on by Sundress singer Ryan McAdams, the festival will feature True Widow, Holy Wave, Darktown Strutters and many others over the course of two nights.

Smile Smile, The Cush, Triangle Heads, Jaret and Erik Saturday, August 11, at Granada Theater Smile Smile is celebrating the release of their newest record Marry A Stranger on Saturday at the Granada Theater. This record, produced by Salim Nourallah is an even more mature take on the duo's signature pop.

Ride For Dime Friday and Saturday at Trees This year's Ride For Dime, an annual celebration honoring the late Pantera guitarist Darrell Abbott, features a country twist. The Fort Worth show, at the Rail Club on Friday, features Hank Williams III, and at Trees on Saturday, David Alan Coe headlines.
