Deez Nuts: See the Funniest, Grossest Rejected Texas Vanity Plates

Simply mentioning government or bureaucracy these days will almost instantly, reflexively elicit a groan. While Elon Musk and President Donald Trump seem to be working overtime to purge the federal government of its workforce, maybe the state of Texas can help a specific department out and lighten their workload?

We don’t want anyone to lose their job, mind you. But give the folks who must sift through many thousands of vanity license plate requests a break, and maybe just let them rubber stamp every silly request that comes their way. Being able to see LILMEAT on a ’84 Camaro’s Texas plates while it roars down Preston Road would be all kinds of fun.

There are many reasons a proposed plate combination may be rejected are numerous, ranging from boring (if one conflicts with a current or proposed pattern featured on other license plates issued by the state) to scandalous (a combination considered to be indecent, vulgar, derogatory). Also not accepted are mentions of race or ethnicity, whether they are derogatory or not, and combinations that refer to illegal drugs or illegal activities such as gang violence.

In June and July, the DMV got hit with a viral sensation when it had to decline a good many requests looking to capitalize on perhaps the most 2024 of all phenomena, Hawk Tuah Girl. H4WK 2UA, H4WKTUA, H4WKTUH, HAK*TU and HAK&TUW were just a few of the slew of requests looking to honor Hailey Welch, the Southern woman who went viral last year for giving a funny answer about her sex life. Perhaps not coincidentally, June and July were the two busiest months for DMV license plate denials, with 255 each.

But hang on a second. If someone loosened up the Texas vanity plate guidelines, we wouldn’t have this fun list to look forward to every year, now would we?
