How DISD Can Buy Time, Goodwill

Moments ago on The Dallas Morning News' DALLAS ISD Blog, Kent Fischer asked the question, "Can the district borrow to fill the budget hole?" He answered it, as well: Yes, as what's another million in interest, and just think of the goodwill it'll buy. Alas, "Trustee Garza told me yesterday that nobody has suggested [to] him the idea of borrowing as a short-term stop gap." Course not. --Robert Wilonsky

Update: Tawnell Hobbs reports that DISD will let go "1,209 employees" today, should the board of trustees approve the reduction in force.
