News flash. Prices for everything are still going up. Stresses continue to mount. You're not getting any younger, and life's not moving any slower. If you're not careful, it's easy to let the tides sweep you away. It's important to grab onto something steady and hold on tight.

Was that a dramatic setup to talk about why you should be going out for happy hours during the week? Yes, it was. And we're serious about it too. Taking the time for a brief respite after a long day at work can be the difference between a good day and one you'd like to forget. So take it from us, there's always time for a happy hour. And luckily, in Dallas, there are plenty of places to get your fix. Here are 20 of our favorites.

If that doesn't satisfy you, check out our recently updated list of the top 100 bars.

Thomas Avenue Beverage Co.

2901 Thomas Ave.
This spot from longtime Dallas barman Lucky Campbell is offering up one of the best happy hours in town in a swanky setting. Seven days a week from 4 to 7 p.m., grab a Moscow mule, marg, gimlet or ranch water for just $5. Get four other cocktails, including a barrel-aged old fashioned for just $6. Head outside to the large patio and bar for a more casual vibe and lots of good pups. Who's Lucky now?

Brentwood

5318 Belt Line Road
Brentwood, in the old Houston's space, has daily 2–6 p.m. happy hour specials at the bar and patio that include half-price martinis and wines by the glass. On Monday and Tuesday only, get half off all wine bottles and munch away on the spicy tuna crispy rice, cheeseburger or chicken tenders for only $10.

D.L. Mack’s

Multiple Locations
Channeling an old Chicago tavern, D.L. Mack’s has American dishes with a Windy City twist. Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. pull up a seat at the bar or on the patio for half-off house martinis and wines by the glass along with $15 pizza, $5 palomas and $10 burgers.

Double Wide

3510 Commerce St.
If you're looking for a happy hour with "drinks that hit harder than Dad," look no further than the Double Wide. Tuesday through Friday, from 5 to 9 p.m., Double Wide offers well liquors and domestic beers for $3 and, more notably, its popular YooHoo Yeehaws for $5. It goes a little later than most happy hours, making it an ideal spot to kick off a night out in Deep Ellum.

Drake’s Hollywood

5007 W. Lovers Lane
Drake’s Hollywood is ridiculous piano-lounge fun. Pull up a seat at the bar for happy hour, Monday – Friday, from 4 to 6 p.m. for half-priced pizzas and drinks like the ice-cold Bogart’s Gimlet, French 76 and Spanish Espresso.

Frankie's Downtown

1303 Main St.
Frankie's describes its happy hour as "particularly long and generous" and we have to agree. On weekdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (more like a happy day than a happy hour), enjoy a variety of wine, beer and cocktails for $9 or less. From 5 to 7 p.m., chef-selected appetizers are discounted as well, so make sure you show up in that window if you want a snack to pair with your drink.

Halcyon

2900 Greenville Ave.
Halcyon in Lower Greenville has one of the happiest hours that Dallas has to offer. Seven days a week from 3-7 p.m., enjoy $2 off wine, mimosas and coffee cocktails, as well as $5 beer and $7 regular cocktails. There’s a limited selection of marked-down food as well, including their delicious chicken biscuits. Though not officially part of the happy hour, we recommend trying Halcyon’s “afternoon tea,” which arrives freshly brewed in a small pot for one.

Harwood Arms

2823 McKinnon St.
OK. Sit down. Harwood Arms' happy hour runs 4–7 p.m., Monday – Thursday, and 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Friday. Small plates for $6 to $8 include short rib sliders and excellent Reuben fries. But the best thing here is the rosemary cucumber gimlet for $7. Or score an Irish mule, whisky sour, spicy margarita or old fashioned for $7.

HIDE, formerly of Deep Ellum, is now on Lower Greenville.

HIDE

1928 Greenville Ave.
In terms of bang for your buck, it's hard to compete with HIDE, a Lower Greenville favorite. On weekdays between 3 and 6 p.m., you can grab appetizers such as pork belly bites and crispy artichokes for $5, and cocktails like Moscow mules and French 75s for $7. Several entrees are discounted as well, including an incredible double cheeseburger for $7 (plus $1 for a side of fries).

Hudson House

Multiple Locations
Hudson House has chic coastal vibes and spot-on happy hours on weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m. (at the bar only). Get half-price wines by the glass, Bellinis and martinis, including the espresso, the classic French 75 and the unique Bleu and Gold topped with bleu cheese salt and house-made blue cheese olives. Treat yourself to $3 East Coast oysters or go for one of the best cheeseburgers in Dallas.

Houndstooth

1900 N Henderson Ave.
Though primarily a coffee shop, Houndstooth offers a solid selection of cocktails and beers on tap that’s criminally underrated. On weekdays from 3-6 p.m., you can get $2 off all alcoholic beverages, including local options like Velvet Hammer and Golden Opportunity from Peticolas, or the Black Lager from Oak Cliff Brewing.

Malai Kitchen

Multiple Locations
Happy hour at Malai Thai-Vietnamese Kitchen runs Monday to Friday, from 3 to 6 p.m., and all day Sunday. Get $4 off all signature cocktails and $8 glasses of wine plus house-brewed beers for $5. There are small plates for $7 or two for $12.

The Meteor

1950 Hi Line Drive
To its benefit or detriment, The Meteor is fluid. The Design District’s all-day cafe, which is also connected to the Urby apartment complex, offers a food menu that includes pizza and Mediterranean-inspired plates, a small bottle selection of wines and champagnes, traditional cocktails, a range of coffee and tea, and specialty bike accessories, apparel and community events. It has no exact signature, which is manifested with a seven-day happy hour that runs on weekdays from 4-6 p.m. and weekends from 7-9 p.m., the latter of which is dubbed a “reverse happy hour.” The Meteor is whatever you make of it, and we’d recommend making plans to stop by on a weekend evening.

Not only is the Old Monk a lovely space, it also has a stellar happy hour.
Lauren Drewes Daniels

The Old Monk

2847 N. Henderson Ave.
We love The Old Monk, and not only because during happy hour (weekdays, 3–7 p.m.) all house cocktails are only $7. Well, actually, yeah that's why we love it. The pub in the Knox-Henderson neighborhood also has great character and a lively patio. The fish and chips are stellar as well.

The Peak Inn

132 N. Peak St.
We're so glad you made it. The Peak Inn, a dark, wonderful bar in East Dallas, runs a happy hour clinic daily from open until 10 p.m. Well drinks are $4.25, Fireball shots are $4.50, and Deep Eddy's, Hornito's and Jack, green tea and white tea shots are all just $6. And every day, all day, you can get a can of Lone Star or PBR for $3.50 or a High Life Pony for $2.75. When you're ready to soak it up with some food, get one of the best burgers in the city ($10.99).

The Wild Detectives

314 W Eighth St.
Even the happy hour at The Wild Detectives reinforces its reputation as one of the signature artsy meetup spots in North Texas. On weekdays from 3-6 p.m., the bookstore and bar offers a free drink with the purchase of any book inside. Call it a happy hour for the finer things in life, or perhaps just a good excuse to go home with something to read after a night out. We’ll just call it a good deal, and one we’ve taken them up on far too many times.

Stan's Blue Note

2908 Greenville Ave.
At the epicenter of Lower Greenville, Stan’s brings the pregame to the big game. As one of Dallas’ premier sports bars, a 4-7 p.m. happy hour on weekdays gives fans the chance to load up before kick-off, tip-off, first pitch, puck drop or whatever your muse. Consider us at the Observer as “Stans” of Stan’s, as it took home our Best Sports Bar award in 2022 and 2023, as well as a spot on our top 100 Bars in 2024.

St. Pete's Dancing Marlin
2730 Commerce St.

Lately, owner Pete Zotos of St. Pete’s has found himself at the forefront of Deep Ellum business owners speaking out against the yearslong construction process that’s torn up sidewalks up and down Commerce Street. We’re a fan of his place regardless of what’s around it, but supporting it in the midst of this battle he’s fighting makes the drinks taste just a bit better. Enjoy them at marked-down prices from 4-7 p.m. daily. Wise up.

Ramble Room

6565 Hillcrest Ave.
Ramble Room is about as classic as it gets. Located in Snider Plaza, the American eatery and bar took home our 2023 award for Best New Restaurant. Happy hour at Ramble Room takes place weekdays from 3-6 p.m., and we especially recommend you stop by on Tuesday, August 12, to get a head start before our next Obsever members-only supper club, which takes place inside that evening. It’ll be a three-course meal with drink pairings, presented by Chef Brian Carter and Dallas restaurateur Jon Alexis. Tickets are $80 plus fees, available exclusively to our members. #shamelessplug

Tiny Victories
604 N. Tyler St.

Happy hour at Tiny Victories, an awesome little cocktail bar in Oak Cliff, runs Monday - Saturday from  4–7 p.m. with half-priced cocktails, domestic beer and wine specials. On Tuesdays, they have an all-day happy hour. If that doesn't make you feel better, the Bob Ross shrine at the bar surely will.

TJ's Seafood Market

6025 Royal Lane
TJ’s Seafood Market is a Dallas staple with daily specials in addition to a happy hour Monday to Friday, 2–6 p.m. On Tuesdays, all bottles of wine are half off. Try the late-night happy hour on Friday and Saturday from 9 to 10 p.m. and Sundays after 6 p.m., when oysters are $2.

Uchi

2817 Maple Ave.
We know people who spend their entire paycheck at Uchi's happy hour. And we're proud of them. The happy hour menu at the award-winning and simply amazing Uchi is six pages long. The skinny here is that from 4 to 6 p.m., you can get an eight-course omakase for $80, loads of nigiri, hot tastings at reduced prices, and wine, beer, sake, and house cocktails starting at $6. Try the house cocktail Ichigo for $9; it's an agave-infused sake with Thai chili and strawberry.
