When The Warwick first opened in Houston in 2022, veteran restauranteurs and owners Rob Wright, Mazen Baltagi, Steve Rogers and Kurt Ogechi Agomuo had a one-track mind: enrich the steak scene in H-Town.
The Southern meets global flavors infused in this classic American steakhouse have drawn the likes of Shaquille O'Neil, Travis Scott, Bun B, NFL Hall of Famers Terrell Owens, Andre Johnson and several local politicians and state politicians.
Within the last year, they shifted their focus to expansion, and gave the restaurant an upgrade in anticipation of that.
"We wanted to upgrade our brand, so to speak, and enhance our offerings and with that comes a new name and new direction,” Rob Wright stated in an Instagram post.
The Warwick in Houston became Winsome Prime, and now, a new one is primed to open on Sunday, March 30, in the former Network Bar space in Trinity Groves (3011 Gulden Lane) in West Dallas, sandwiched between La Rue Doughnut and the new seafood and cocktail bar Pesca.
Trinity Groves has gotten a CNTRL-ALT-DLT reset over the past few years. Many of the original anchor tenants at the complex are gone with fresh new faces. Cake Bar is gone, but La Rue Doughnuts is in. Amberjax closed years ago, and recently Jesus Carmona (of Milagro Tacos) has opened a beautiful new seafood bar.
Winsome Prime will bring many of the classics from The Warwick to the new menu, except prime steaks will now be the headliner of the offerings.
Entrees feature Hawaiian ribeye, kung pao pasta and a la carte proteins supplied by the famous Allen Brothers in Chicago. They're also offering some Southern-style sides, like an interesting collard greens risotto, plus staples like mac n' cheese and potatoes of a few varieties.
They've got eight different menus across lunch, brunch, dinner and dessert. Yes, eight. One of the most interesting is the business lunch, where you pick two items for $25, Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Also, they're coming in guns blazing with a happy hour and weekend brunch already primed. If the Dallas menus match Houston's, get ready for $7 cocktails and bites from 3 to 7 p.m.
The owners hope the new steakhouse will be known for its seamless transition from dining to lounging with a vibrant bar area and music. As we've mentioned, this is a new trend: go early and stay all day. It's an all-in-one dinner, drinks, music and a show.
It's upscale, so y'all better show up dressed correctly. Otherwise, its dress code policy states "Appropriate attire is required at all times. Entry to Winsome Prime is at the sole discretion of management, who reserves the right to refuse service to patrons who, regardless of reservation status, are not appropriately attired."
Modern Luxury claimed its iconic Warwick margarita (now the Winsome marg) as one of the top 10 in Houston. Could this be an underground vetting process for future expansion? We're flattered and dressed for the occasion.
