After dramatically shutting down last April, Foxtrot will reopen its Knox Street location on Friday.
The ritzy café and corner store filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy after all 33 locations between Dallas, Chicago, Austin and Washington, D.C., closed mid-day, with some of its 1,000+ employees still inside.
Foxtrot’s handling of the situation left a bad taste in many people’s mouths. Salaried employees weren’t offered severance pay, and part-time employees were unexpectedly left out of a job mid-shift.
The 2025 Foxtrot do-over seems to want to change its image a bit, starting with a planned “expanded coffee experience and reimagined food offering,” according to a press release. Perhaps more importantly, the company behind the abrupt closure is out, and the original founders, Mike LaVitola and Taylor Bloom, are back.
Foxtrot will debut two exclusive coffee brands called The Milk Man Blend and Early Train Espresso, both crafted specifically for its new cafés. As for food, Foxtrot will offer new breakfast taco flavors, including borracho bean, brisket guisado and grilled vegetable tacos.
You can try these out for yourself at the grand re-opening on Friday. Customers can get a free coffee from 6 to 10 a.m. There will also be a happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m. with $4 local draft pours and $7 wine pours, all with a live DJ in the background.
The company also said that it plans to reopen the University Park location in the coming weeks.
