Diners in Fort Worth got a big surprise last week when country music star Blake Shelton and pop icon Gwen Stefani stopped in for a bite to eat at a local restaurant.
Los Vaqueros Restaurant at the Fort Worth Stockyards shared photos of the former No Doubt lead singer and her husband, who is originally from Ada, Oklahoma, on Facebook. The two stars met in 2014 while working together on Season 7 of "The Voice," although Stefani was married to Gavin Rossdale at the time and Shelton to Miranda Lambert. They began dating in 2015 after both of their divorces were finalized. The couple got married in July 2021.
Los Vaqueros is owned by the Cisneros family and has been a Fort Worth staple for more than 40 years. According to the restaurant's website, the founders, Johnny Valentine Cisneros Jr. and Kiki, met while working together at El Chico. They soon married and started a family before opening Mi Casa in 1979 in a small house they converted into a restaurant. In 1983, they opened Los Vaqueros on Main Street, then, needing more space, in 2024, moved closer to the Stockyards to their current location at 2513 Rodeo Plaza.
If you want to check it out, reservations are recommended.
Fort Worth has recently seen an influx of celebrity sightings at restaurants, especially since Yellowstone and Landman creator and Fort Worth-native (by way of Cranfills Gap) Taylor Sheridan filmed scenes in and around Fort Worth. The director also recently acquired the famous Cattleman's Steak House with plans to revitalize the iconic restaurant.
Honestly, we're so glad to see celebrities stop in somewhere other than Joe T. Garcia's. We stand committed that it's perhaps the most overrated restaurant in North Texas. While its lush gardens do make for an amazing space, the food lacks inspiration. Many commenters on Facebook share our sentiments:
Kasi Daine writes: "Finally! Someone took celebrities to eat decent tex mex instead of Joe T's!"
And Lisa Helbing writes: "They opted for tasty food rather than a pretty patio."
Los Vaqueros thanked the couple on Facebook, "Thank you to Blake Shelton/Gwen Stefani and their family for showing your support to the Stockyards and at Los Vaqueros."
Other commenters noted that the couple were also at other places in the Stockyards that day.
