We worried that hot chicken might have just been a phase a few years ago. Like jorts. Hattie B's was among among the many hot chicken spots to open in the Dallas area a few years ago. Along with Palmer's, Lucky's and Fuku (anyone remember that hot mess?).

Fortunately, there are still plenty of good spots around; here are our 10 favorites.

While Hattie B's original location in Deep Ellum closed, they opened a new location along Lemmon Avenue in Uptown and are now opening another store in Plano next year, in late spring or early summer.

The new standalone restaurant will be located at 2104 Preston Road, at the intersection of W. Park Boulevard and Preston Road, in the Preston Towne Crossing development.

The restaurant will have 56 indoor seats and a 50-seat patio.

The menu, which is based on a traditional Tennessee meat-and-three restaurant, will include all their hits, like jumbo chicken tenders, wings and a fried or grilled chicken sandwich on a toasted bun with coleslaw, Nashville Comeback sauce and kosher pickles. They also recently added a Southern salad to the menu, which is just really thoughtful.

The heat scale at Hattie's runs from "no spice" to your-face-is-gonna-sweat-a-lot heat (the latter is called "Shut the Cluck Up"). There's also a sweet and smoky dry rub. Sides include pimento mac-and-cheese, potato salad and collard greens with banana pudding and peach cobbler for dessert.

We like Hattie B's and are excited to see them expanding across North Texas. We'll follow their development and will update often.
