Just What Dallas Needs: Another Bougie Steakhouse and Lounge

The new concept is a steakhouse and lounge based on Old Hollywood eras. Too much or not enough? We know: It's never enough.

Evelyn is the latest in steakhouse and lounge combos to hit Dallas. The idea is that you arrive for a nice steak dinner and then head to the lounge afterward. This bougie new restaurant wants to be the Old Hollywood haunt Dallas never had.

The 9,500-square-foot space, from the same group behind The Mexican, Black Tap, and Pie Tap, is opening in the Design District on Wednesday, March 26.

Aside from being a meat-focused restaurant and lounge ("loungestaurant?"), Evelyn is based on defining eras of 20th-century entertainment: dining rooms are inspired by the ‘50s Hollywood Golden Age and the early ‘70s disco and rock scene.

A late-night cocktail lounge inside Evelyn called Room Seven is meant to channel high-energy ‘70s and '80s dancefloor vibes. Evidently, Room Seven was the inception point of this entire concept.

The restaurant also includes the Ruby Room, a large moody bar, and The Piano Room, the restaurant’s primary dining room, which will close a couple of hours before the other two rooms.

As with everything else at Evelyn, the menu is showy. Steaks are sourced from Rosewood Ranch, DemKota Ranch in South Dakota, Allen Brothers and a tomahawk ribeye from Australia. There are wagyu cheesesteak bites, seafood towers and a Japanese Miyazaki A5 wagyu cooked tableside on a hot rock. Caviar service includes Siberian Baerii, Platinum Osetra and Golden Osetra.

Sip on The Price of Fame for $150, made with dry vermouth, black truffle bitters, caviar-stuffed olives and Nolet’s Reserve Gin. The ice-cold martini selection ranges from $17–$22 and includes classic options such as The House martini with Bombay Sapphire gin.

Evelyn opens on Wednesday, March 26, with reservations available via OpenTable. The Piano Room opens at 4:30 p.m. and closes at 10 p.m. on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but remains open until midnight Thursday through Saturday.

The Ruby Room and Room Seven also open at 4:30, but stay open until midnight on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
