The restaurant has agreed to a franchise deal with the Dallas-Fort Worth-based franchise group PhilX Hospitality, which runs three JINYA Ramen Bars in Victory Park, Preston Hollow and Carrollton.
The concept's trademark goal is to serve a meal for less than $20 in under 20 minutes. Food is served in a sizzling bowl.
A little internet sleuthing provides a bit more insight into what they have to offer. A 3/5-star Google review for the Irvine location reads:
"Food comes out fast and sizzling hot. Most items on the menu are peppered. If you like black pepper you'll like this place. Sit down fast food restaurant."That might best summarize most of the reviews. It's a quick lunch. And pepper. Not dinner at the Ritz, but a quick lunch.
The menu is broken into seven sections: pepper rice, teriyaki, steak, seafood, curry, pasta and veggie.
PhilX has announced they will open five Pepper Lunch locations in Frisco, Carrollton, Plano, Prosper and McKinney. No details on the exact location or timing are provided at this time, other than they expect to open the first restaurant in the fourth quarter of this year.
The five expected stores in North Texas will add to the seven stores in California, bringing the total number to 12 in the states.
