It’s like we can hear “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” already, smell the nachos and feel the cool of Globe Life Field’s amazing indoor air conditioning. Baseball season returns this week. Our Texas Rangers begin the season at home Thursday, March 27, against the Boston Red Sox.

The Rangers announced some new food options just days before the players hit the field, and we're excited to try a few new items.

Arlington Alley

For starters, Globe Life Field will have a new food court area, Arlington Alley, with all the standard ballpark offerings along with unique local flavors. The centerpiece of the food court is the Texas Craft Beer bar, which will offer a rotating lineup of local brews, including Rollertown's Big German, Community's Mosaic, Martin House's Dr. Box and Rahr's Texas Light. The bar will also pour some whiskey and tequila-based Texas-themed cocktails.

The Arlington Eats program also returns, showcasing a rotating cast of Arlington restaurants as concessionaires. Thursday’s game against the Red Sox will highlight Prince Lebanese, a Mediterranean spot just 2 miles from Globe Life Field; it was also featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives more than a decade ago (and is still amazing). Later in the season, El Tiempo Cantina (which, interestingly, is from Houston, which is not in Arlington) and Restaurant 506 are set to take over the spot.

Boomsticks Everywhere

This year, the stadium’s culinary lead-off hitter is the Boomstick Burrito, a gargantuan 26-inch flour tortilla filled with ground beef, nacho cheese and all the Tex-Mex fixings. Find this near section 132. At $35.99 each, the burrito is a commitment and perhaps a good snack for two (or four).

Bacon on a Stick also looks promising: thick-cut crispy Danish bacon glazed with Dr Pepper and barbecue sauce. You can get these near sections 23, 123, and 230.

You'll certainly find us at Hurtado for the Big Papa Potato. This baked tater is loaded with butter, cheddar cheese, brisket and Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce. Find it near section 141. Hurtado will also have smoked wings available.

The hot dog triple play is a good time for the whole family. Get three types of hotdogs (bacon-wrapped, chili cheese and a Chicago dog) all in one tray. This is why we go to games at Globe Life Field.

As if more could be added, other new items include a lobster roll and Thai drunken noodles from Arlington spot Blue Mint Thai. The baked potato is $14.99. The lobster roll stands at $13.99, and the noodles are $17.99 or $19.99 with chicken.

The first pitch is at 3:05 p.m. Batter up.
