Deep Ellum Has a New Mexican Restaurant and Rooftop Patio With Skyline Views

The restaurant group behind Deep Ellum restaurant and rooftop patio bar Stirr — along with Uptown nightclub Citizen — has opened a new Mexican restaurant in Deep Ellum.

"Meaning 'the good life,' Vidorra offers bold and exciting Mexican flavors, along with a large tequila selection, unique cocktail program, and lively social experience in one of Dallas’ most vibrant neighborhoods," according to a press release.

The 10,000-square-foot space has three "distinct areas," all designed by Dallas designers Coeval Studio. Dallas diners, ever fans of a good patio and skyline views, will no doubt seek out the 2,000-square-foot rooftop patio bar with a state-of-the-art roof that opens and closes. "Inspired by artistry found throughout Mexico and Central America, especially in Mexico City, Vidorra ultimately evokes a modern and elegant Mexican style," according to the release. "The main color palette is drawn out of vibrant and bright colored neighborhoods and the application in modernist architecture throughout Mexico."

Like many new restaurants in Dallas right now, Vidorra's menu focuses a lot on shareable plates meant for groups to split. There are street tacos, wood-fired ribs and fajitas on sizzling platters. "Guests can enjoy an array of bold flavors with appetizers like the Flaming Fundido with melted Oaxaca cheese served in a 400-degree Molcajete dish that includes four topping options served with tortillas and the Crusted Tuna Salpicon with seared crusted coriander tuna, fresh mango, pickled cucumbers, avocado, cilantro, sriracha and cilantro Cojita crema," according to the release.

On the beverage side, there's a 20-cocktail menu, margaritas and a large selection of tequila, with flights and several varieties of margarita, along with large-format cocktails for sharing.

Vidorra, which opened last week, is open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Despite undoubtedly Uptown vibes in a neighborhood often pushing back against the influx of uber-trendy, high-priced bar-restaurants, the massive rooftop patio is likely to be a big draw.
