Dallas is hiding one of the most entertaining group activities in an unassuming strip mall. If you like to laugh and compete in all manner of absurd games, stick around.

Just outside the city proper, Game Show Battle Rooms has established the ultimate entertainment for brainiacs, prolific pong players, flip-cup aficionados and adept shoppers. We put on our thinking caps and took a trip to the company’s Farmers Branch location.

Game Show Battle Rooms is exactly what it sounds like, with guests competing against each other in a live game show experience. Each studio comes complete with dramatic stage lighting, music and sound effects managed by a producer, as well as a host who keeps the energy going.

“I think everybody who works here has had a passion for performance,” says Scott Hovland, general manager of the Farmers Branch Battle Room. “We get to offer that in a live setting in a way that a lot of people don’t ever get to experience.”

Spin and solve in this contest that favors fortune and quick thinking.

Game Show Battle Rooms offers two experiences: Classic Showdown and Primetime Showdown. We tried both.

The Classic Showdown is pure nostalgia, offering traditional game show contests with spinning wheels, object pricing, games of chance and survey-based guessing games. If you and your friends are good at trivia, the Classic Showdown is the way to go.

To really up the ante, you could build out two dream teams to compete against each other. Bring someone who knows way too much Dad rock, one who wipes the floor at obscure trivia nights, one who has great hand-eye coordination, and another who already knows the total of their groceries before checking out.

The Primetime Showdown is much more physical and fast-paced. Here, teamwork makes the dream work. This is also the place for people who were popular in college to shine. If you and your friends ever knocked out the competition at flip-cup or pong, you have a good chance of walking away with the trophy.

Flippy Cup is a lot harder than it looks.

“A lot of people find themselves to be almost tired at the end of that hour because they’re like, ‘Wow, I just worked hard,’” Hovland says. “The energy levels are seriously held the entire show.”

Both the Classic and Primetime Showdowns range from $35.95 to $39.95 per person and can accommodate eight to 36 people.

If an in-studio experience isn’t your cup of tea, or if you have a very large group, there is also a roadshow experience available, where the fun comes to you. This option can accommodate up to 500 people.

Game Show Battle Rooms is perfect for birthdays, bachelor or bachelorette parties, team-building events or just a night out with friends. Book a ticket today and experience the fun.
