Fifteen minutes before it was scheduled to begin this morning, Dallas Independent School Board trustee Carla Ranger posted this notice to her Web site:

Dallas ISD, community leaders and businesses will launch a massive effort to help hundreds of teachers and other staff released from the school district to find new jobs. At a news conference at the Dallas Convention center, Ballroom C, Monday, October 13, at 10:30A.M., Dallas Independent School District officials will join with leaders of the United Way, the Dallas Regional Chamber, city hall officials, and others to announce details of the community-wide effort to help teachers and other employees find new jobs in education or other careers.

Superintendent Michael Hinojosa was also scheduled to attend. I know, I know. No details thus far on the district’s Reduction in Force site — which, hmmm, is no longer referred to as “Destination Safe Landing.” –Robert Wilonsky
