Former DPD detective David Rodriguez’s Monday-afternoon heroics were featured on Good Morning America today.

The story of David Rodriguez, the former Dallas Police detective who thwarted a robbery at a Jack in the Box on South Hampton Road on Monday, got national attention this morning: ABC’s Good Morning America ran a piece on Rodriguez, who, in 1994, was shot by suspected drug dealers while serving a search warrant at a Northwest Dallas apartment complex and left paralyzed from the waist down. Says the 60-year-old former DPD officer: “I don’t like the term hero. I think I was just doing an extension of what I would have done if I was still active on duty.” –Robert Wilonsky
