Iron Fork, the Dallas Observer‘s annual food event celebrating some of the city’s best food and drink, is just a week away. It has one of the best restaurant lineups ever, and there’s an even better reason not to miss this year: For the first time ever, two badass female chefs will be facing off in the Iron Fork chef challenge.
Competing this year: Gabriela McCormick, sous chef at Fearing’s, and Anastacia Quinones, executive chef at the Cedars Social.
These chefs are serious heavy-hitters in Dallas food. Quinones recently took over and transformed the menu at the Cedars Social (with two other female Dallas dining powerhouses). McCormick started at Fearing’s, one of the city’s most high-profile restaurants, as a cook in 2009, working her way to lead line chef and supervisor before becoming sous chef.
As attendees gorge on unlimited food samples and sip on beer, cocktail and wine samples, Quinones and McCormick will compete in a real-time cooking competition using mystery ingredients provided by Whole Foods.
