Now that 2015 is drawing to a close, Fort Worth phenom Leon Bridges is running out of time to pack more achievements into a year that’s already bursting with them. But there’s still time. On top of a rags-to-riches (or at least dishwasher-to-pop star) story that’s already the stuff of fairy tales, Bridges has toured the world and played a host of late-night TV slots, including The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. And now it’s time for Saturday Night Live.

Early this afternoon, SNL tweeted the news that Bridges will appear on the show in just a little over two weeks, on December 5. (The same night, coincidentally, as our Dallas Observer Music Awards showcase. So to that extent, he’s clearly missing out…) He joins the elite company of Demi Lovato and St. Vincent, North Texans who have also appeared on the show in recent years, and we all know how things are going for those two.

But there’s one detail about Bridges’ appearance that should ratchet up the jealousy factor even further: The host that night will be Ryan Gosling. Perhaps Bridges should consider dipping into Macaulay Culkin’s wardrobe for this one.

Bridges, who’s hot off a triumphant hometown (well, almost hometown) show at Majestic Theatre last weekend, may well run out of new accolades soon if he’s not careful. Then again, Grammy Awards nominees are due to be announced soon too, so he’s probably not done adding to that résumé just yet.
