One week into November, Dallas- and Wyoming-based BTWW Retail, L.P. — owner of, among other cowboy-wear outlets, Western Warehouse and Boot Town — filed for bankruptcy protection in the Dallas federal courthouse. Two weeks later, BTWW has decided to shut ‘er down entirely: Beginning tomorrow, everything must go, as Western Warehouse and Boot Town are going out of business and liquidating every last hat, boot and pair of chaps pronto. (Somebody let ’em know at The News it ain’t “BTTW” — well, not technically.)

Wasn’t so long ago that BTWW was buying up its rivals; said one exec in January ’07, “We’re regionally so well dispersed that it makes sense to use all the
brands.” But now, Tony Lamas and Justins will be stacked deep and sold off cheap … just in time for some kinda holiday? Don’t bother checking the Web sites for stock, either; they’re down, but who isn’t? –Robert Wilonsky
