Bert Vaux studies linguistics at the University of Cambridge and recently created a survey of 122-linguistic based questions and gathered responses from 11,500 people across the country. He then sent the files over to Joshua Katz at the Department of Statistics at North Carolina State University, who created these fascinating charts that “interpolate” how we all say things based on our geographic location.
Fortunately the maps are color-coded so we don’t have to Google words like interpolate.
