Remember all of the hubbub back in 2011 when organizers of the Tomato Battle claimed they were working to raise cash for the Food Bank, but didn’t pay up until the media put the squeeze on ’em? We do too.

The event no longer masquerades as do-gooding. Now it’s expressly for pleasure, fun and excess, via tomato chucking. We sent photographer Danny Hurley to capture all the juicy joy and he returned with a whole slideshow’s worth of photos. From that, we picked the six ripest. Now, let’s look at this human gazpacho.
