Tom Hanks, who once met John F. Kennedy after downing several Dr Peppers, is currently developing a feature film with his production company Playtone about the JFK assassination. The film will be screenwriter Peter Landesman’s directorial debut. According to Variety, the film will chronicle the “events leading up to JFK’s assassination and Abraham Zapruder’s famous documentation of the event.”
Playtone’s “Parkland” will be an ensemble film that explores the impact the assassination had on a wide range of characters in and around Dallas on that fateful day, including an FBI agent, a young doctor, a reporter, several Secret Service agents, Kennedy’s staff, Oswald’s older brother, Jackie Kennedy and Zapruder.
So, now for the million dollar question, which Wilonsky over at the DMN‘s wondering as well: will they film a movie set in Dallas, about Dallas, actually in Dallas? If the DMN‘s mentioned Austin-filming rumors are true (why? why?), it should be verrry interesting. Seriously though, film it in Dallas.
Details sure to come as the film develops, but we’re already looking forward to casting.
