We told you were to find the best food events this New Year’s Eve already, but here are some of the events and parties in Dallas that will help you ring in the new year in style.
Canvas Desert Disco
9 p.m., Dec. 311325 Botham Jean Blvd.
At $100 a ticket, the Canvas Hotel Desert Disco is pricey, but it does offer the most quintessential New Year's Eve experience a partygoer could want. The rooftop lounge will be decorated with desert-themed trappings, and the outdoor setting will provide view of the midnight fireworks over downtown Dallas. Light snacks, plenty of Champagne and a DJ fill out the night.
Panoptikon's Dark Masquerade
8 p.m., Dec. 313414 Elm St.
There's no shortage of masquerade balls on New Year's Eve, but no one does it like the goths. Panoptikon encourages revelers to wear goth, steampunk, cyber and Victorian costumes to keep the evening appropriately dramatic and dark. DJs Lord Byron, Son of San and Red Vamp perform as well as a troupe of dedicated go-go dancers.
Eataly Italian New Year
4 p.m., Dec. 318687 N. Central Expressway, Suite 2172
For a low-key but elegant New Year's Eve, head to Eataly. The restaurant is hosting its party in the afternoon (midnight in Italy), letting customers skip the international date line a little for an early night or doubling up for the dedicated celebrant. Tickets allow access to taste 30 handpicked wines as you enjoy scrumptious bites. Prepare for countdown at 5 p.m.
Loop the Lake New Year's Eve Run
7 a.m., Dec. 317301 Gaston Ave.
For most of us, the only exercise we plan to do on New Year's Eve is the old Champagne flute bicep curl. If you want to get a head start working off those alcohol and hors d'oeuvre calories, consider joining the 21st Annual Loop-the-Lake Fun Run at White Rock Alehouse & Brewery. The 15k run raises money for Marathon Kids, a nonprofit that encourages healthy living for children. The run will be followed by breakfast and coffee.
Hotel Vin License to Thrill
7 p.m., Dec. 31215 E. Dallas Road, Grapevine
Party like the legendary Agent 007 at Hotel Vin's all-night New Year's Eve gathering. Dinner starts at 7 p.m., followed by a party at 9 that lasts into 2025. Guests are expected to wear black tie and will be able to play a variety of casino games like roulette, blackjack and craps. There will also be photo booths, a DJ and a ball drop at midnight.
Bollywood Glamour
10 p.m., Dec. 31505 N. Good Latimer Expressway
Bottled Blonde teams up with BIH to throw a massive Bollywood-inspired party for New Year's Eve. While everyone else is off pretending to be in New York City, take the chance to dance to the best Indian music. DJs T-Beatz and Hillon host. Drinks, food and hookah are available.
Round Two Family Party
2 p.m. and 5 p.m., Dec. 31821 W. Davis St.
Kids want to celebrate the end of the year as well, but keeping them up until midnight can be a hassle. The retro arcade Round Two can speed the whole thing up and promises a good time. There will be a ball drop to simulate the close of the year at midnight. One $11 ticket gets free play on all games, pizza and a glow stick. Run the kids out of energy with electronic joy and then see the clocks change once they're in bed.
Sue Ellen's New Year's Eve Party
9 p.m., Dec. 313014 Throckmorton St.
Texas' oldest lesbian bar has two full stories of fun and festivities this New Year's Eve. Considering that 2024 is the year lesbians conquered music, the tunes should be particularly excellent at this party. Plus, there will be a cash drop to participate in addition to the Champagne.
Deep Ellum Bar Crawl
8 p.m., Dec. 31Check-in at 505 N. Good Latimer Expressway, then various locations
Why go to one party when you can go to nine (and counting)! The NYE Bar Crawl leads the throng through the clubs of Deep Ellum, grabbing drink specials at every stop on the tour. Participating bars include Backyard, Rodeo, Trinity Cider, Cheapstakes, Revolver Taco Lounge and more. Nothing keeps the night moving like a good crawl with friends.
Dallas Symphony Orchestra
7:30 p.m., Dec. 312301 Flora St.
Conductor Moritz Gnann and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will be working New Year's Eve to help welcome 2025. The program has some fun dance pieces, like George Antheil's deliciously noir "Spectre of the Rose " and a selection of Strauss waltzes. VIP tickets come with access to a five-course buffet dinner and private intermission reception. At the very least, it will allow for a break from all the club hits that will thunder through the sound systems of the city all night.
The Statler
9 p.m., Dec. 311914 Commerce St.
If the answer to the song’s question “What are you doing New Year’s, New Year’s Eeeve?” is “Treating myself and spending all my saaaavings” then head to one of Dallas’ most iconic hotels, the mid-century landmark The Statler, for two different parties (for the price of two): The Royal Masquerade Ball — where Kendall Washington from Love Island, “will serve as honorary host of the ball’s countdown to midnight,” according to the website — which takes place in the Grand Ballroom, and Countdown in the Sky, on the hotel’s 19th-floor pool bar. The New Year’s Eve packages start at $554. The hotel also offers deluxe packages with brunch and late checkouts for those who want to start the year Home Alone 2-style, except on your own dime not Mr. McAllister's.
New Year's Eve at The Thompson Dallas: Catbird Met Gala
8 p.m., Dec. 311401 Elm St.
In the words of David Beckham: Be honest. You judge the Met Gala outfits every year like you aren’t wearing the same ratty sweatshirt for the dream college you never actually attended. This year, you’ll get to feel like one of Anna Wintour’s chosen ones with Catbird’s Met Gala-themed New Year’s Eve party. Make Zendaya proud by wearing your most daring, chicest and outlandish ensemble. According to the press release, “Thompson’s Dallas’ 9th-floor lounge will transform into the most prestigious and glamorous fashion event, complete with a red carpet, paparazzi, champagne, and special guest DJ Christopher Reid.” General Admission is $100, while a private table (for 2-4 guests) is $1,000, a private table (5-8 guests) is $2,000. And you can book the entire Chanel Room (up to 16 guests) for $10,000.
Cafe Nubia’s NYE Masquerade Ball
8 p.m., Dec. 313920 Rosemeade Parkway
If what you’re going for Venetian vibes (or even Eyes Wide Shut) this New Year’s, Cafe Nubia’s masquerade ball is all set with a DJ, a yet-unannounced live band, a “surprise celebrity host” and, of course, a crowd of mysterious masked guests. Tickets are $30 to $2000, depending on how VIP you want to get, and get you free Champagne for the countdown.
And a Fort Worth bonus ...
Giovannie & the Hired Guns at Tulips
9 p.m., Dec. 31112 St. Louis Ave., Fort Worth
OK, so we said “Dallas,” but if you want to start the year by rock-countrying out, supporting local music and discovering a buzzing new band building millions of streams online, then you should head to Tulips. The Fort Worth bar (which we named “Best Small Venue” just this year), is hosting the band on its intimate-ish stage. An unpretentious hang at a cool live music venue? Be right there. Tickets are $37.
