Alamo Drafthouse has always prided itself on providing an elevated moviegoing experience, and now a new Valentine’s Day promotion at the chain's DFW locations is making that experience more affordable.
From Feb. 12 through March 23, tickets for standard screenings at the Alamo Drafthouse locations in Richardson, The Cedars, Las Colinas, Denton and Lake Highlands, will cost $7. Tickets for movies screened in Alamo’s “The Big Show” format, available at the Denton and Richardson locations, will be sold at a reduced price of $9. Event tickets for Alamo’s upcoming Movie Parties at DFW locations will be available for $13.
If you already purchased tickets for an upcoming screening at full price, you can either refund and repurchase them at the discounted price through the Alamo Drafthouse app or show your full-priced ticket to the box office for a free voucher to cover your next screening.
This all represents a significant savings for moviegoers. For some screenings, this promotion means a 50% or more discount off the price of tickets. At a time when basic necessities (see: eggs) continue to grow more expensive, a great deal on a night at the movies is a welcome reprieve (especially if you need to throw together a last-minute Valentine’s Day date).
And on top of the savings, we have survived the dead zone of January movie releases, when studios offer up films they never really had much faith in like sacrificial lambs. Alamo Drafthouse’s discounted tickets are arriving just in time for an exciting schedule of 2025 releases, including: Captain America: Brave New World and Paddington in Peru (both releasing Feb. 14), The Monkey (Feb. 21), Mickey 17 (March 7) and Black Bag (March 14).
We are looking at a month-and-a-half window that features, respectively, Harrison Ford turning into Red Hulk, a small British bear going on a big adventure, a cursed and/or homicidal toy monkey, director Bong Joon-ho’s follow-up to Best Picture-winning Parasite and Steven Soderbergh’s latest spy thriller. And with these discounted tickets from Alamo Drafthouse, you could see all five of them for about $35, not to mention any other films being shown by Alamo in the next month.
It has been less than a year since it seemed possible that Alamo Drafthouse would be departing North Texas for good, after the franchisee who managed the DFW locations shuttered them all last June. Since then, all five have reopened, now managed by Alamo Drafthouse’s corporate mothership. The chain continues to innovate and integrate into the filmgoing community, and this promotion is the latest example.
So whether you need to catch up on this year’s Oscar nominees, check out the latest entry in the MCU, or just want an excuse to get away from it all for a couple of hours, this Valentine’s Day offer makes seeing movies at Alamo Drafthouse a great, cost-effective option.
Just remember to silence your phone when you get there.
