Hutchins BBQ

You might drive past a Hutchins BBQ, one of our favorite local shops, on Thursday and wonder why there’s a line around the building. Well, it’s because Oct. 16 is National Texas Twinkie Day, which, yes, is a real thing (if you squint), and these little torpedoes of heat and flavor are worth the wait. Last year, they sold 4,000 of ’em.
On Thursday, guests at the Frisco and McKinney locations of Hutchins BBQ, an Observer Top 100 restaurant, will fire up the grill all afternoon to cook Texas Twinkies. Here, a jumbo jalapeno is stuffed with smoked brisket and cream cheese, then wrapped in thick-cut bacon and smoked.
The Texas Twinkies are just $4 all day on Thursday, Oct. 16, limit four per person.
The smoke-off will benefit Frisco Family Services and The Samaritan Inn. From 5 to 8:30 p.m., each location will also host raffles. Prizes include a Traeger Grill, Tecovas and McKinney Hat Company gift cards, Cowboys tickets, Hutchins gift cards and more. The first 50 raffle participants at each location will also get a National Texas Twinkie Day T-shirt.
