The single is a swagger-drenched anthem that captures the raw ambition of a city carving out space on its own terms. Amir doesn’t want your co-sign—he wants the scene to rise together. “New Dallas in the function, they know it’s a movie / And we finna show the world / N***a feel like Boosie / You would think we're sellin’ chickens, spot roll like Rudy’s,” Amir begins.
The “New Dallus” music video features prominent local athletes, including SMU quarterback Kevin Jenings, wide receiver Jordan Hudson and Lincoln High School basketball star Ar’Jayla Elder, also known as the "Silent Assassin." All three are shown exercising and practicing new plays at the University’s indoor field and Pike Park in Victory Park. You can watch it below. After the field and the basketball court, Mir takes us to the famous Brotherhood Food Mart in South Dallas. The scene features trendy child rapper Big Ace, who greets a younger version of HeadHuncho Amir, Montana 700 and Zillionaire Doe as they hang out outside the market.
Zillionaire Doe makes an appearance in the music video, sitting with Amir and Ziggy Made It at the head of the table in the middle of Amir’s Fraizer Street neighborhood. They sit at the table to enjoy Rudy’s Chicken, one of the most sought-after fried chicken establishments in DFW.
The Dallas exploration continues as nightfall sets in, with Amir and his friends taking over DG’s Gentlemen’s Club in North Dallas. Sharing an Instagram post while shooting the music video, Amir views his latest release as a testament to his growth, using his success as motivation to work harder and continue to improve.
“I can’t let nun of this shit change me. I’m still the same Mir. I ain’t getting big-headed. I ain bigger than the next person. I ain in competition with anyone. Every day, I’m working, tryna be a better me,” the caption read.
“New Dallus” offers plenty of easter eggs throughout that refer to Amir’s past. Before rap took over, Amir played football. Once news broke that Amir signed to 300 Entertainment and Shedeur Sanders was drafted to the Cleveland Browns, a photo surfaced of them allegedly playing alongside each other, showing how far they’ve come to chase their dreams.
Produced by Chopsquad DJ, the song follows Amir’s previous release, “10 Figures,” from his breakout EP Still Ain Nun Bigger. Alongside New Dallas artists like Zillionaire Doe and Montana 700, he is turning regional talent into a national conversation without losing their unique style. Amir is taking his city with him on his own terms.
Making his regional debut in 2022 with the mixtape, Just Getting Started, Amir, who also goes by the moniker Mr. 2700 in honor of his neighborhood, 2700 Fraizer St., rose in popularity with a hustler’s mentality and catchy wordplay. 2024 was a big year for Amir as his project Ain Nun Bigger produced his three biggest tracks to date: “Motivate the City,” “Jumping Jack” and “Havin Motion.”
Amir is backed by a great team, including experienced manager Adrian “Low Deezie” Brown, who also represents Yella Beezy and the man behind the New Dallas sound, Ziggy Made It. At the end of 2024, the Observer ranked him among the top 30 rappers in DFW.
Amir initially approached rap as a hobby, but his first show convinced him to take the art form seriously.
“Just started rapping, but I wasn’t really taking it seriously – for real though,” he began to tell Gillie and Wallo, the hosts of Million Dollarz Worth of Game. “I was just playing around with it. But then I had did my first show in Memphis. They had booked me. I did it for free, know what I’m saying? But I seen the crowd came out. Then, from there, I just knew, 'Okay, it’s on.' Then, I just kept dropping consistently.”
The New Dallas movement’s success relies on their unity, supporting each other and their music.
“I want the same thing for everybody,” Montana 700 told Gillie and Wallo. “It’s enough money in this shit for everybody – I ain’t gon lie. I can’t sit here and get these millions and not want bro to shine. I don’t want to pay for everything. I want my bro to pitch in and we do this shit together.”
Amir's hard work is paying off. He has been added to EST Gee's summer tour with BloodHound Q50 and surprise guests. He wrote, “NewD We Up Another 1000 Points This For The City I Appreciate Est Gee For Letting Me Be Apart Of His Tour If Yo City On Here Pop Out It’s Gone Be A Movie.”
EST Gee's Welcome to My World Tour heads to Dallas on Sunday, Aug. 3, at The Echo Lounge & Music Hall. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are available starting at $28.10 on Ticketmaster.
