Husband and wife indie pop duo Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley capped off a stellar decade and a half career as Tennis at The Bomb Factory in Deep Ellum.

Billie Marten, the British singer-songwriter, warmed up the crowd with her fans encouraging her between songs, performing favorites like “La Lune.” After Marten, the highlight was Tennis’s career-spanning setlist, whose April release of Face Down in the Garden marked their last album before an indefinite hiatus.

Tennis has a vintage aesthetic to its music and fashion that perfectly matches the look of celluloid. Before their final handful of songs, Moore proclaimed, “We’re going away for a very long time.” It’s rare these days for an artist to make their mark and go out on their own terms. For 15 years, Tennis has done things their way, and Monday night will be, for those in attendance, that “I was there” kind of night that grows into lore.

Fans stopped outside the venue to take one last photo in front of the marquee. It’s one last souvenir and tomorrow’s nostalgia.

Tennis’ tour will continue throughout September, hitting cities like Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Portland, Santa Fe, Seattle and more.
