As 2025 is now closer to its mid-point than its beginning, many citizens are taking to the streets to call "mayday!" on May 1. According to a press release for Thursday's May Day protests, an estimated 100,000 people across all 50 states will take part in speaking truth to power.

It’s not a stretch to think that images of nationwide protests will be among the most lasting impressions of 2025 by the time it's over. During President Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office for his second term, increasing numbers of people unhappy with many of his policies have taken to the streets of cities large and small across the country to voice their disapproval.

The 50501 Hand’s Off! Protests that have grown larger and louder in all 50 states regularly in 2025 have won plenty of headlines and addressed specific complaints involving Trump’s immigration policies, Elon Musk’s aggressive DOGE-driven federal cuts and more. The series of rallies continues to expand in just about every manner possible: more events with more people in more cities supporting more causes with increased regularity.

Another nationwide series of rallies, the May Day National Day of Action protest, is scheduled for this week.

We know, there are a lot of things to protest. At least there are a lot of options for doing so on Thursday.

When and Where is the Dallas May Day 50501 Protest?

There will be a May Day National Day of Action rally on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Pacific Plaza (401 N. Harwood St.)

What is the 50501 Movement?

The name itself is simple to explain: 50 states, 50 protests, 1 day. The movement's official website gives other hints with phrases including “We The People,” “Reject Project 2025” and “Fight Fascism” featured on the page that leads to social media channels. “The current administration has made it clear: profits over people. We refuse to stand by while they dismantle our rights, our communities, and our future,” reads a post on the group’s official Reddit page regarding the upcoming protests.

“We are not just numbers. We are not just consumers. We are the People. We reject fascism. We reject the oligarchy. We reject any system that places profit, power, or privilege over human dignity.” Also listed on Reddit are some demands the movement is making. “Donald Trump and his administration need to address the American people and own up to his lies and acknowledge the harm caused by his administration,” the Reddit page states. “Our coalition calls for immediate actions to rectify the injustices perpetuated by current leadership and to restore integrity and fairness to our political system. We demand transparency, accountability, and the prioritization of human rights and equality.”
