Cristina Mendez and John Pham opened their Vietnamese and Mexican fusion restaurant between a convenience store and a laundromat in 2017. Since then, it has garnered a loyal fan base; often, there's a line along the sidewalk waiting for the restaurant to open, and they've been known to sell out of their famous $30 platters, especially on Sundays (the restaurant is closed on Saturday and Monday).

In April, they announced through Instagram that they were on the move. One of the great things about this new spot is there's plenty of parking, "a ton," the couple touted on one Instagram post.

On Saturday, they announced that, with a " bittersweet feeling," the last day at the Preston Oaks Road location was Sunday, July 13.

However, they followed that announcement on Sunday with a video of the progress of the new location at 6090 Campbell Road, including a new sign. They also revealed that the new, bigger location, less than 10 minutes north of the original, will open on July 17.

This is a "soft opening," so if you do arrive, be patient as they find their sea legs.

What to Order

Cris and John's creative combinations of Mexican and Vietnamese flavors have made them a Dallas culinary icon. If you've never been, it's best to commit to one of their platters, which change weekly. Here, you and a friend (there's enough food for two, maybe three) can get the CliffsNotes version of the restaurant.

Take the Pho burger platter with two pho burgers, one cup of elotes, four chicken tenders (choice of sweet chili, bang bang or spicy chili) with a side of Sriracha mayo fries. You might want to start with one of their phorittos, which is basically pho stuff and wrapped in a large tortilla, then toasted on a grill. Other combinations include birria tacos or birria baos, both served with their Angry Pho consomme. There are noodles, dumplings (steamed and grilled, our favorite), along with a bevvy of teas and boba to wash it all down.

With so many options, it's easy to understand why they needed a bigger spot. Now we just have to wait until this Thursday.

Don't forget they're usually closed on Saturdays and Mondays, and there's no indication that will change at the new restaurant. Follow their Instagram for more details.
