When you think of a hotel restaurant, you might think of a breakfast bar with oddly textured eggs at some roadside inn outside of Odessa. The truth is, hotel restaurants can be extraordinary places to have a meal and an evening in a relaxed atmosphere. The truly good ones not only uphold the integrity of the hotel, but they also help it shine.
Restaurant reservation site OpenTable and travel site KAYAK partnered to create a dining guide to hotel restaurants in America, and four North Texas hotel restaurants made the cut. This list was created based on consumer research, and reservation or not, we encourage you to give these places a try.
97 West Kitchen and Bar at Hotel Drover
200 Mule Alley, Fort Worth97 West Kitchen and Bar sits at the base of Hotel Drover on the outskirts of the Fort Worth Stockyards. What makes this restaurant stand out is the emphasis on unique Texas ingredients and menu items from across the state. The honey, herb goat cheese, charcuterie, olive oil and balsamic vinegar marmalade are all made in Texas. House-cut steaks are from Rosewood Ranch in Central Texas. For travelers visiting the stockyards, being able to get a taste of Texas without having to leave the hotel is convenient, to say the least.Keep an eye on its website for events, reservations and menu changes.

This deconstructed pecan pie at Fearing's was one of the best things we've eaten all year. If nothing else, go for dessert (but actually go for a whole meal).

Fearing’s at The Ritz-Carlton
2121 McKinney Ave.OpenTable describes Fearing’s as a can’t-miss spot in Texas. Located between Uptown and Victory Park in The Ritz-Carlton, it’s a prime location for visitors to dine in the heart of Dallas, with other tourist attractions and nightlife just a short Uber ride away. The dining space ranges from casual to elegant, making it an experience that has something for everyone. (Don't skip the serpent-themed restrooms.)But the belle of the ball is the always gracious father of Southwestern cuisine, chef Dean Fearing, who regularly visits every table in his dining room. There's no better host in Dallas. Also, the restaurant recently partnered with R-C Ranch for its premier wagyu program. This South Texas family-run ranch supplies the restaurant with steaks for its mesquite grill. And don't forget a cup of Fearing's lauded tortilla soup.
Stillwell’s at Hotel Swexan
2575 McKinnon St.As you head to the 7th floor of Hotel Swexan to enjoy an evening at Stillwell’s, don’t be intimidated by the suit and tie attire and posh nature of the place. Once you reach the dining room, you’ll realize it’s for everyone. Start your night at cowboy hour, where at Stillwell’s beautiful half-circle bar, you can enjoy half-priced cocktails and appetizers from 4 to 6 p.m. Then you can move into the elegant dining area and enjoy steaks from their proprietary beef program (they have cattle ranches in Oklahoma and Texas), and a one-of-a-kind tasting menu. It’s perfect for date nights, pregaming at the American Airlines Center and special occasions. Trick Rider at Omni PGA
4341 PGA Parkway, FriscoThis rodeo-themed fine dining experience in Frisco is quite striking. Center stage at Trick Rider is a horseshoe-shaped bar with a 1,500-pound crystal horse chandelier hanging above it. It combines a Western kick with a luxurious ambiance, offering prime steaks, seafood and cocktails in a space that feels both bold and elegant. Be aware that prices at Trick Rider do reflect those of a fine-dining experience; you can wear your Tecova boots, but also pad that wallet (or, even better, pony up that expense account). The tame 6-ounce USDA prime filet is $50, but that's lightweight, and this is cowboy country: plan on the 36-ounce tomahawk for $265. A side of mac and cheese with orecchiette is $18.If you want to enjoy the vibes but don’t want to burn money you don't have, then visit during the rodeo happy hour from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday for $14 glasses of wine, $12 cocktails and discounted appetizers. See, even rough cowboys can be decent.
