We came expecting a no-frills taco spot, but were surprised to find fruit, housemade drinks and music. This is a complete Friday night hangout spot. Aaren Prody

For almost a decade, once a week Ramiro Salas and Jose Testa have served some of Dallas' best street tacos in pure form — impromptu and casual. Their Friday-night-only market has become a gem in Pleasant Grove with an IYKYK-cult following. (Ramiro's, we're sorry for putting your quiet taco spot on blast, but it had to be done.)

Ramiro's Tacos is sort of hard to track down. Sometimes they get catering gig, so you have to either take a chance they'll be there or text in advance. What's the phone number, you say? Well, you gotta put a little work to find that — that's part of the mystique here. (We're putting the spot on blast, but not his phone number. Besides, it's easy to find.)

They're mostly at Premier Park Fields (11115 Elam Road), starting around 5:30 p.m. on Friday nights and are there until "late." Conveniently, every Friday, the field they set up near has a series of kids' soccer games going on, so families ebb and flow for post-game rituals and pick-me-ups.

A simple white board with the menu behind the tables may or may not be updated, but no worries Salas is happy to explain whatever you may need to know when you walk up.

Salas and the other cooks cooks have created a hospitable taco stand that makes you feel like you were personally invited for the carne asada. We didn't grow up on this food, but here we're able to get a glimpse into the flavors and environment this cuisine was built on.

Once you find the number, text him and he'll confirm his location. If you're really hungry, you can place your order in advance.

Ramiro's Tacos serves three types of carnes (pastor, bistec and suadero) along with several varieties of tacos, most with some form of protein and queso. We ordered one of almost everything for a complete spread: tacos, gringa, endiablada, morenas, volcan, horchata and agua fresca.

The standout was the endiablada, a homemade harina tortilla stuffed with pastor, a little suadero, cheese and chile toreado (grilled jalapeños). It's a wonder how they pack so much flavor into a single tortilla. The cheese and meat are a duo of savory and fatty richness while the chiles bring just a touch of heat.

We came expecting just tacos, but they have a full setup here with coolers full of drinks, bluetooth speakers and a few tables. There was another small vendor there selling pre-cut mango and other fruits dressed in Tajin, chamoy and other classic toppings.

For drinks, they have a few flavors of agua fresca, horchata, sodas and water.

When you try something new for the first time, you don't have anything to compare it to, so it's hard to tell if it's legit or not. As you try more and more you're able to gauge the quality, etc., so when we tried their horchata, we questioned what we had been drinking all the times before this.

This is obviously homemade, naturally sweet and insanely creamy. Subtle, but intentional differences in flavor made it so much better than anything we've had prior. Luckily, they serve these in XL Styrofoam cups, so you will have some for now and later. However, it's difficult to not down it all in one sitting.

We're stoked to have found this little taco stand and wish our youth sports game had tacos like these as a post-game meal.
