This afternoon comes word that a handful of other acts have been added to the already stout NX35 lineup. Fat Possum Records' The Walkmen is the big name, of course. But others include DFW's own Trebuchet, Saboteur and Jack with One Eye, Austin's Pure Ecstasy and French duo Electric Electric.

In other news, Glen Farris has been added to Thursday's show at Sweetwater supporting Julianna Barwick.

DENTON, Texas (February 15, 2010) -- The NX35 Music Conferette welcomes the Walkmen into its powerhouse of headliners, as more names are confirmed with less than a month left before the festival begins. Held on March 11-14, NX35 will also usher The Flaming Lips, The Black Angels, Juliana Barwick, Jookabox and others to the other, smaller Texas music town north of Austin.

East coast indie rockers and old friends the Walkmen have revived the upright piano with a fury, at turns mourning and dancing for the postmodern urban landscape their music echoes. The band recently signed with Fat Possum Records and are in the throes of preparations for a record to follow 2008's critically acclaimed You & Me.

"You & Me, a dark and pensive refinement of six years of music, ousts the Walkmen from the streets of New York City to locales both exotic and familar," Paste's Michael Saba wrote of the record upon its release. "These forays into new territory breathe life into well-worn songwriting, and demonstrate why their place in the pantheon of the New Gods of indie rock is justly earned."

Taken with "In the New Year" from that record, Rolling Stone's Will Hermes gushed of "bare-knuckle rhythm guitar swept up in fuzzy organ chords that dazzle like a mirror ball seen after too much cheap champagne."

The Walkmen will play on Sunday, March 14, at a venue to be announced later.

North Texas bands Trebuchet, Saboteur, and Jack with One Eye; Austin's Pure Ecstasy and French noise duo Electric Electric have also been added to the lineup, which the Austin-American Statesman's Patrick Caldwell deemed a "scorcher." An updated list of bands confirmed to play, which covers ground from Dublin to São Paulo, can be found here.

The NX35 Music Conferette is a 4-day music conference programmed in the heart of Denton, Texas' central business district. Wristbands are now on sale at NX35.com. This year's programming includes a discussion with producer/musician/journalist Steve Albini and the grand opening of a museum honoring the history of the 8-track tape curated by former Denton record store owner Bucks Burnett.

For $65, patrons can get a NX35 All-Access Cloth Wristband that grants entry to all NX35 daytime and nighttime programming. A Single Night All-Venue Tyvek Wristband costs $20. More information about afternoon panels will be announced this week.
