Quite the treat tonight down at the Palladium where Robert Pollard and the rest of his classic Guided by Voices lineup are reuniting and kicking off their U.S. tour for one of just two dates the band will play before performing at Matador Records' 21st anniversary party in Las Vegas on October 3.

And, speaking of treats, in this past week's paper, Andy Odom caught up with Pollard via email to discuss the reunion. And Pollard was pretty upfront about his reasoning for getting the old gang back together:
"The decision was inspired by the offer to play the Matador 21st anniversary event in Las Vegas," Pollard offers of the reunion. "At first I said no, and then I thought about getting back together with Greg, Toby, Mitch and Kevin and I thought it sounded painless...Since we were going to go through the process of learning and rehearsing, we might as well book an entire U.S. tour around it."
But Pollard also went on to say that he's not too sure if fans can really expect more shows or any new music down the line--or, at the very least, he's not saying anything about it for now. So, indeed, tonight's show is providing quite the opportunity.

And, many thanks ot the folks at the Palladium, who are bringing this launch show to town, we've got five pairs of tickets to hand out to the affair. Want a pair? Hit the jump to find out how to score one of them.

Just be among the first five people to email me, starting right now, with the words "Voices in my Head" and you're in. Good luck!

Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners!
