Great news, Dallas, there have been many new openings to get excited about in the past month. When rapper Ice Cube had a good day, part of it was attributed to a California burger chain, which just opened its first Dallas location last week; one spot traded pistachio baklava for whipped feta; Oprah loves the chocolate chip cookies from this beloved NYC-based French cafe and more food news.

The Devonshire Club
5757 W. Lovers Lane
Nikki Greek Bistro & Lounge closed and reopened as The Devonshire Club. The authentic Greek fare has been swapped with more timeless New American classics like whipped feta, meatballs and tuna tartare. Still, with the new items’ unique execution, it could be something to be excited about. The new space invites us all to linger with billiards, shuffleboard, darts and TVs for catching the latest game.

Kirin Court
1301 Custer Road, Plano
Suburban diners are rejoicing with the opening of Kirin Court’s second location. This go-to for dumplings in Dallas can seat almost a 100 people, and it still boasts a line out the door on weekends. The new location may soften the blow to the kitchen staff, but we expect there will be two opportunities to stand in line now. It’s worth it, though.

Pizzana
11700 Preston Road, North Dallas
Three years after its debut in Dallas, Pizzana opened its second location in the Preston Forest shopping center. This spot serves one of our favorite pizzas in Dallas, and the new location will sport a covered patio, expanded bar, easy parking and “pup pizzas” for dogs.

Fatburger
7949 Walnut Hill Lane, North Dallas
It was a good day when the first Dallas Fatburger location opened in Preston Hollow Village. This popular chain hailing from California was made popular by rapper Ice Cube, when he described getting a Fatburger at “two in the mornin’” being the cherry atop his ideal day.

La Stella Italian Steakhouse and Music Lounge
14655 Dallas Parkway, Far North Dallas
Lawry’s The Prime Rib closed last year, and in its place is the new La Stella, the sister restaurant to La Stella Cucina Verace in the Arts District. The multi-dimensional concept spans 11,000 square feet and aims to carry on Lawry’s longevity with an Italian spin. The restaurant was designed by renowned Italian architect Daniele Venenzoni, known for his work with the Qatar royal family. Old Italy, here we come.

Tacoro Tacos & Tequila
6185 Assembly Park Blvd., Plano
Tacoro Tacos & Tequila was one of two concepts that recently opened in Plano. It’s putting the finishing touches on the latest mixed-use development called Assembly Park. They’re serving elevated Mexican street food and cocktails.

Maman
4004 Villanova St., Park Cities
Maman is a charming French café that recently opened its first outpost in Texas, located at the Plaza in Preston Center. The NYC-based concept is known for its collaborative menu with Martha Stewart, and its nutty chocolate chip cookie is one of Oprah’s favorite things. Better than both of those things? It’s a laptop-free cafe that doesn’t accept reservations.

Jashan Indian Fine Dine
7401 Lone Star Drive, Plano
Jashan, meaning “celebration”, is the newest fine dining Indian restaurant in North Texas. Owner Prasanna Singaraju, chef Ashish Bhasin and chef Ramesh Thangaraj want to tell the story of India through traditional recipes sourced from three key regions. The menu is forward-thinking and with plated with reimagined techniques. The heart of it all is the chef’s table, which will feature an omakase-style experience that takes you on a journey through all three regions.

Slyvestro
1410 N Fitzhugh Ave., East Dallas
The group behind Mike’s Gemini Twin Lounge sneakily opened a new cocktail lounge called Slyvestro on Halloween. It’s connected to Urbano Cafe in East Dallas and Joe Shirghio, who has been at Bowen House for years, is behind the bar. Urbano is shifting gears away from a BYOB policy and will introduce a reimagined menu in the coming months. Get the details here.
