BigXThaPlug held an album release party at Cash Cow in Deep Ellum to celebrate his new album, I Hope You're Happy, which features collaborations with high-profile country music chart-toppers, including Ella Langley and Bailey Zimmerman.

BigX was booked into the county jail at 2:20 a.m. on Friday. In an email response, Dallas Police confirmed his arrest.
On Aug. 21, 2025, at about 8:45 p.m., Dallas police officers observed a vehicle without a front license plate traveling in the 7900 block of Great Trinity Forest Way. Officer initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as 27-year-old Xavier Landum.In an interview from The New York Times Popcast, BigXThaPlug spoke about missing his son's first birthday while in jail and how solitary confinement affected his mental state at the time.
During the investigation, officers located a firearm and marijuana in the vehicle.
Landum was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana <2oz, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, a Class A Misdemeanor.
"That was probably the first time I've ever just went crazy. Like when I was younger, I used to have temper tantrums and all that. That was the first time I ever went crazy," BigXThaPlug said. "Like swinging on everybody, yelling at COs. They put my ass right in the hole. And they gave me 30 days in there. I did 12 during those four months. I did 12 days and I had a court day and that's when they gave me time served. But in that 12 days I went crazy. They put you in there with nothing."
"I realized that I was going crazy because for the first five or six days, I didn't do anything," he continued. "I just sat there. I tried to read and draw. I was doing stuff that I was doing as a kid, like playing with erasers as if I were fighting with them. I knew that I was mentally gone when I was counting the bricks in the room, and I knew exactly how many bricks were in my room. I just got to screaming...one day, I just screamed out my door, 'How the hell do y'all stay sane in here? How are y'all able to wake up every day and be good?'"
The rapper, who has performed around the world over the past few months, was also arrested in February on marijuana charges in Arlington. The 27-year-old is scheduled to make an appearance at a new Wingstop location in Arlington tonight as they're rolling out new late hours until 1 a.m. Representatives for the event have yet to respond with information on how the arrest might affect tonight's party.
