On Tuesday evening, BigXThaPlug announced on his Instagram that he dropped out due to injury.
"I will not be attending the WHAM Tour with Lil Baby," BigX said. "As most of y'all know, I hurt my foot about a week ago. I've been trying to stay off it, but my doctor is telling me that a tour right now is not what is best."
"With that being said, I apologize to my fans, to Lil Baby, to Live Nation," he continued. "I'm not gonna lie, I was ready to turn up. But with that being said, we got some stuff in the works. Once I'm back right, we back to it."
The 26-year-old rapper was supposed to support Lil Baby on the U.S. dates (except Los Angeles) and the Australian dates only. Another rapper expected to open for Lil Baby was NLE Choppa, who was also replaced by Pluto, the Atlanta-based rapper behind the summer anthem "Whim Whamiee" featuring YK Niece. Loe Shimmy is still expected to perform on the U.S. dates that go until July.
Replacing BigXThaPlug will be New Orleans rapper Rob49, who is seeing success off his latest single, “WTHelly.”
The Dallas rapper has toured extensively since the beginning of his career, starting with the Don't Mess With Texas Tour in support of his debut album Amar with special guest Big Yavo and the Take Care Tour with Ro$ama and Yung Hood.
BigX's star power will continue to grow in 2025. His song "All the Way," featuring Bailey Zimmerman, became a top-five hit on the Billboard Hot 100, and it was recently named a song of the summer contender by Complex. His Take Care single "The Largest" was part of an interlude during Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour.
He is currently preparing to release an untitled country project that's nearly finished. While speaking with Billboard, he revealed how his producers — Tony Coles, Bandplay and Charley Cooks — created a country trap blend that remains authentic to him.
“I wouldn’t say my version of country music is country music. It’s kind of mixing the two sounds,” he explains. “I’m rapping on a bunch of country-style beats, but it’s not just country. I’m not on there sounding like no cowboy; I’m rapping. I’m just doing it from a country standpoint. I’m not saying it was easy — it definitely was a challenge.”
Lil Baby's WHAM World Tour hits Dallas on June 5 at American Airlines Center. Tickets are still available here.
