We know — the economic times are hard. We believe that our work of reporting on the critical stories unfolding right now is more important than ever.

We need to raise $6,000 to meet our goal by August 10. If you’re able to make a contribution of any amount, your dollars will make an immediate difference in helping ensure the future of local journalism in Dallas. Thanks for reading the Dallas Observer.

Foodies everywhere should know that it's Hatch Chile season--the best time of year for those tasty treats from Hatch, New Mexico, aka "Chile Capital of the World." If you love the peppers but don't want to go through the trouble of preparing them yourself (pepper preparation is a fine art), then head on over to Blue Mesa where, as a part of their 13th Annual Hatch Chile Festival, you can partake in the Hatch Dinner Party. On the menu for the evening will be treats like green chile steak, green chile stacked chicken enchiladas, and the award-winning shrimp and Oaxaca cheese relleno. Dinner will be served at all Blue Mesa locations Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. The all-you-can-eat buffet is $16.95 for adults and $6.95 for kids, with El Jimador drink specials available; reservations are recommended. Visit bluemesagrill.com.
Mondays-Sundays, 5-9 p.m. Starts: Aug. 20. Continues through Sept. 30, 2009
