Hollywood’s awards season is over, and instead of being stuck watching an already self-obsessed industry lavish honors upon itself, we can finally get back to the business of watching that industry’s products. This is the perfect time of year to find a few cinematic gems ahead of the bloated summer blockbuster season and months before studios begin their over-earnest campaigns for next year’s awards. In the spring there’s always this nice little lull when festival films make the rounds. Drake Doremus’ Sundance entry Breathe In is one such movie, making its North Texas debut as part of the NY Film Critic Series at the Texas Theatre, 231 W. Jefferson Blvd., at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The film stars Memento looker Guy Pearce as a man whose creative drive is reawakened — and whose family is upended — by the arrival of an intriguing British exchange student played by up-and-comer Felicity Jones. Tickets are $14 and can be purchased at thetexastheatre.com.
