Help us weather the uncertain future

We know — the economic times are hard. We believe that our work of reporting on the critical stories unfolding right now is more important than ever.

We need to raise $6,000 to meet our goal by August 10. If you’re able to make a contribution of any amount, your dollars will make an immediate difference in helping ensure the future of local journalism in Dallas. Thanks for reading the Dallas Observer.

It’s pretty much every day we dream of going in to the office and finding a tiny version of ourselves, equipped with a superpower. Even better yet, also equipped with fuller, bouncier hair and a tail. In other words, we’d either get a helluva lot more done or be totally screwed—it is a toss-up, but it would be super fun—if we only had “Puchidols” (the aforementioned cheebi versions) of ourselves. Instead, we’ll head to the Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson at 7 p.m. Monday for Funimation at the Movies: Puchimas! and experience it vicariously. The serialized manga-turned-animated series (Puchimas! Petit Idolmaster) focuses on the lives of the ladies of 765 Productions as they contend with daily tasks complicated (or is it, improved?) by the sudden appearance of their Puchidol selves. Wacky, cute, and did we say cute? Because it’s cute. And funny. Also, very cute. But 18 and up, despite the cuteness. Puchidols between 13 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Alamo Drafthouse is located at 100 S. Central Expressway in Richardson. Reserve screening food vouchers for $4 online at drafthouse.com/dfw.
