After wrapping production of the wonderfully titled Gruesome Playground Injuries, Second Thought Theater shows its latest project, In a Forest, Dark and Deep by Neil LaBute and directed by Regan Adair at Kalita Humphreys Theater (2400 Flora St.) at 7:30 p.m. Friday. In a Forest, Dark and Deep is about two siblings in a cabin in a forest (of notable darkness and depth, we are assuming). While this sounds like it’s also the setup for the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale, LaBute’s play is more psychological mystery than allegory encouraging kids to become shut-ins. There are tics and neuroses and class differences and sporadic power outages that all make for a tense 90 minutes of sibling rivalry, ranging from subdued to hysterical.
