Help us weather the uncertain future

We know — the economic times are hard. We believe that our work of reporting on the critical stories unfolding right now is more important than ever.

We need to raise $6,000 to meet our goal by August 10. If you’re able to make a contribution of any amount, your dollars will make an immediate difference in helping ensure the future of local journalism in Dallas. Thanks for reading the Dallas Observer.

It’s not often we say this, but there’s a great reason to go to Addison: The 2013 Out of the Loop Fringe Festival. WaterTower Theatre (15650 Addison Road) hosts the 10-day revolving door of dance, theatre, comedy, performance art and music, starting Thursday and running through March 17. Last year’s highlights included avant garde theatre scofflaws Dead White Zombies and Charles Ross’ One Man Lord of the Rings. Hard to top that, we know, but this year we’re looking forward to Contemporary Ballet Dallas’ progressive production Proof of Life; Ayana Hampton’s bawdy The Morning After Show; Muscle Memory Dance Theatre’s Falling Upside: A Dancing Recovery; and Patrick O’Brien’s one-man show, Underneath the Lintel, about an odd librarian and a very overdue book. Make sure to check out Fort Worth Opera’s programming throughout the fest, as well as WaterTower’s own production of The Ugly One Thursday night. A festival pass is $65; $10 for individual events. Call 972-450-6230 or visit watertowertheatre.org for tickets.
