An Iraq War veteran is brought home from combat to take part in a morale-boosting tour, with a stop at the bizarre, full-fledged extravaganza/political theater at a Cowboys half-time show. A brilliant high school teacher succumbs to temptation and existential confusion in 2002 Paris. Duty, violence and morality twist and blend in two disparate first novels from two critically acclaimed authors: Texan Ben Fountain, author of Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, and Alexander Maksik, whose Paris-set You Deserve Nothing was chosen by Publishers Weekly as one of 10 promising debut works. Meet the authors and discuss their books at 7 p.m. Friday as they take part in the Dallas Museum of Art's Fresh Ink series. The event takes place in the DMA's Horchow Auditorium, 1717 N. Harwood St. Admission is free for DMA members and children under 12 and $10 for nonmembers, with discounts for seniors, students and of military service people.
