Help us weather the uncertain future

We know — the economic times are hard. We believe that our work of reporting on the critical stories unfolding right now is more important than ever.

We need to raise $6,000 to meet our goal by August 10. If you’re able to make a contribution of any amount, your dollars will make an immediate difference in helping ensure the future of local journalism in Dallas. Thanks for reading the Dallas Observer.

Slapstick will always be funny whether it’s the Three Stooges pounding each other’s faces into hamburger meat or some schlub on a security camera falling into a mall fountain because they don’t possess the motor skills one needs to look at a cell phone and walk safely at the same time. Believe it or not, slapstick humor isn’t just a cheap and easy way to get a laugh. It’s also a great cardio workout and stamina-building exercise. Do both during the Hit and Run 5K, which has a tacky name and a huge obstacle course. There are walls, bridges, giant balls and swinging cylinders designed to do one thing: put you on the ground as quickly as possible so your friends can laugh at your clumsy ass shortly before joining you. The fun starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at River Legacy Park (703 N.W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington). Registration is $40 at hitandrun5k.com.
