Dixie House

An East Dallas spin-off of the Southern-themed chain Black-eyed Pea, Dixie House hits all of the standards with specialties like the Blue Ribbon Chicken platter. The restaurant's kitchen even kicks it up a notch with its Southern Fried Chicken Livers served with gravy, another signature dish. Classic American fare is also available, many pulled from the Black-eyed Pea's official menu. These popular dishes include slow-cooked pot roast with carrots and onions covered in gravy. But there are myriad choices here: There is grilled Atlantic salmon, an entrée-sized Cobb salad and customizable burgers. There are separate "Chicken Fried" and "Market Fresh Vegetable" categories. The latter includes a five-veggie platter as well as broccoli rice casserole and cornbread dressing. Before you ask: Of course fried okra is an option. This place ain't just whistling "Dixie."
