Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.
It's that time of year again, when you forget that Christmas was once a celebration of a possible son of an invisible man in the sky and only care about whatever is wrapped up for you under the tree. And, of course, there's the Christmas songs, too.
There are some really good Christmas tunes out there -- "Merry Christmas, Darling" by The Carpenter or "What A Merry Christmas This Could Be" by Willie Nelson both come to mind.
Then you have the artists who really don't have anything better to put out -- like Jessica Simpson. The suddenly round-faced chanteuse is releasing her second Christmas album this year. It just really smells of clinging to her already floundering career.
She could at least learn a lesson from the Killers and just do one song a year. But, being that it's Jessica Simpson, she would probably get upset thinking that Killers release Christmas songs.
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
