In case you haven't read almost every item on DC9 at Night for the last two days, South By Southwest music festival is happening in Austin this weekend, and we're reaping all the benefits. Actually, some of us are missing the whole damn thing. Thankfully, Parade Of Flesh has the cure. Bro Fest 2012 will take place at Dada and La Grange on Sunday, March 18, and it will feature 30 bands, including Titus Andronicus, Maps & Atlases, OFF! and many more.
The Observer's St. Patrick's Day Concert

Thankfully, the Lower Greenville St. Patrick's Day parade was saved by one Mark Cuban, which should make for a massive crowd at our annual concert this Saturday. Headliner Ryan Bingham, who penned the music to the 2010 film Crazy Heart, will be supported by local southern rockers Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights.

Sunday, March 18, at City Tavern
Brilliant local violinist Daniel Hart, who we've talked about a lot lately, is throwing another alternative to SXSW with his DXDW. The Facebook invite stands for Dallas By Dallas Wicked Awesome, which is reason enough to go. Once you're there, you'll see performances from him, Analog Rebellion, Mystery Skulls, and my band Radiant. Oh, there's a super special secret guest on the bill, too. Can't say who.

The Figgs are one of Salim Nourallah's favorite bands, which explains why he's opening for them. They've been around for over 15 years and have released a string of double albums of '70s punk-inspired-pop along the way.
Ruthie Foster, Daphne Willis

Ruthie Foster has a rich history in blues and soul music. She's toured with the Blind Boys of Alabama, who performed at the Kessler recently, and now she'll be at the historic Oak Cliff venue under her own name.

The Mesquite Rodeo is hosting Hip Hop Cowboys on Saturday, and the headlining act is Juvenile. You might remember his hit "Back That Thang Up," which apparently crossed over to fans of country music. TK Soul will open along with professional bull rider Craig Jackson, who has a hip hop album of his own.

It's a big emo party in Grand Prairie featuring bands with overly-sincere names like For The Fallen Dreams, MyChildren ByBride and Make Me Famous. I actually kinda like that last one.

I honestly have no idea who the hell Daniel Louis White is, other than a saxophone player with a spectacular first name. The poster shows him deep in thought in a darkened hallway, burning cigar in one hand and sax in the other. Could be hit or miss. Thing is, it doesn't matter when you go check out Sandaga 813, located in the old Minc space in Exposition park, it just matter that you go sometime. It's a really cool jazz club now. I stumbled in last Tuesday night to see Shelley Carol, Bobby Sparks and a seven piece band playing each note with such conviction, that I ended up staying several hours.

Indie scuz rock duo Japanther have spent quite a bit of time in North Texas this week. They played at 35 Denton, went down to Austin for SXSW, and now they'll be passing through Fort Worth at 1919 Hemphill on Sunday. As if there weren't already enough indie bands playing in the metroplex on Sunday.
