In last week's paper, Observer contributor Elliott Johnston spoke at length with Magnetic Fields brainchild Stephin Merritt about parents, Entertainment Weekly, album titles, volume control, and plenty of other things.

But what caught my eye was this little nugget Merritt shared about his band's live show toward the end of the piece:

"No. In fact we are very, very quiet," he says of Magnetic Fields' concerts. "We never get complaints about our being too loud, only too quiet."

Good thing, then, that this show's taking place at the Majestic Theatre, where fans can truly sit and enjoy the music, instead of standing around glumly, wondering how to react. (Such a space would've done Cat Power's recent show wonders...)

Should make for a pretty impressive time. Which is why I'm thankful to the good folks at Merritt's label, Nonesuch Records, who've been kind enough to offer up our blog readers a pair of tickets to tonight's show.
