Weekend time!

First, the shows we already hipped you to...

Tonight, there's Marcia Ball at the Granada, Dale Watson at the Pearl Dancehall and Saloon in Fort Worth, Lou Gramm at the House of Blues, and, finally, at the Double Wide, there's a nice bill with Johnny Lloyd Rollins, Bridges & Blinking Lights and RTB2.

On Saturday, there's Foreigner (sans Gramm) at the Winstar Casino, the Loco Gringos reunion at the Lakewood Bar & Grill, and Cedric Burnside and Lightning Malcolm at the House of Blues restaurant.

And, on Sunday night, you can catch Airline, Cory Watson (of Black Tie Dynasty) and The Lusitania at Club Dada.

...and then there's the shows we haven't yet told you about. Find those post-jump.

Vance Gilbert
Friday, Jan. 9, at Uncle Calvin's Coffeehouse

Writes Darryl Smyers in an email sent this afternoon: "He's way good and it's a great venue." If, that is, you're into singer-songwriters with a penchant for blue-eyed soul.

Whiskey Folk Ramblers, Dirtfoot
Friday, Jan. 9, at the Double Wide The Cavern

There were like six different shows WFR played on this year that almost made my top concerts of 2008 list. Once brilliantly described by Jesse Hughey as "sounding like something you might have heard around the bonfire if a gypsy caravan and a cattle drive happened to cross trails and ended up sharing a barrel or two of whiskey", the band is joined on this bill by fellow gypsy punk fans Dirtfoot, of Shreveport.

Patrice Pike
Friday, Jan. 9 at Dan's Silverleaf in Denton; Saturday, Jan 10, at the Fairmount in Fort Worth

Austin's Pike is best known for competing to win Rockstar: Supernova a few years back. Now, she's more of a light rock "star", I guess.

Eleven Hundred Springs
Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Double Wide

Expect a packed house tomorrow night at the Country Jam boys take to the Double Wide's stage: The old-time country purists are recording themselves a live album during their performance. Should be nuts--and almost too crowded to be enjoyed...

Salim Nourallah, Chris Holt, Emily Elbert
Saturday, Jan. 10, at Opening Bell Coffee (in the new Mosaic building location)

Two longtime staples of the area singer-songwriter scene, Salim Nourallah and Chris Holt, are pretty much guaranteed to put on an enjoyable show in this down-home, calming setting. The young and talented Elbert--something of a buzzworthy up-and-comer herself--should be doing backflips over finding herself on this talented bill.

Hendrick, The Campaign, Sounds Under Radio
Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Granada Theater

It's radio-friendly pop rock night with under-the-radar acts at the Granada!

House of Blues's Local Music Showcase
Saturday, Jan. 10, at the House of Blue

John Lewis Band, Egress, Fatty Lumpkin and Spivey are playing. Saw Spivey once and hated it. The others? I can't say much about them. But congrats to them all for landing a gig that will forever remain on their press kits. This is your high risk/high reward option for the weekend, folks.

There are more shows, obviously. Check our listings for those. Me? I'm beat. And so getting out of here. Have a good weekend everyone. --Pete Freedman
