H-E-B continues to expand across North Texas. Recently, the Texas-based grocer announced plans for a new store in Denton at the corner of Interstate 35 West and Robson Ranch Road.
The press release states that, “While the purchase of the property is not yet finalized, construction of the store is expected to begin this spring.”
The store is closer to Argyle than Denton proper, about 15 miles south of the University of North Texas campus. While once the drive from Fort Worth to Denton along I-35W was mostly pastures, the strip has changed enormously.
A 6,000-home development is being built near the location of this new store. The master-planned community includes a 1,100-acre green ecosystem with a 300-acre entertainment district, a trail system and several parks. The development also includes a 3,000 multi-family house along five miles of I-35W. Yes, indeed, they’ll need a place to shop.
H-E-Bs in North Texas
There are now a dozen H-E-Bs open in North Texas, stretching from Hudson Oaks (Weatherford) to Allen, northeast of Dallas.
Seven stores are under construction: Rockwall, Murphy, Mid-Cities (Euless and Bedford area), Irving, Robson Ranch (Denton), Prosper and Melissa.
The first store in Dallas proper at Interstate Interstate 635 and Hillcrest Road is expected to open in late 2026.
Dallas currently has three Central Markets, which is H-E-Bs upscale sister-concept. Plus, there are Central Markets in Plano and Fort Worth.
Joe V’s to Open in Dallas
Last year, one of our favorite finds was the grocer’s price-conscious concept, Joe V’s, which opened in South Dallas at Wheatland Road.
This store is a slimmed-down version of H-E-B. While it doesn’t have a floral department, extensive cooking demonstrations, or a barbecue restaurant, the 55,000-square-foot store will have a bakery, fresh sushi, H-E-B-branded products, a butcher, a bountiful produce department, and, yes, fresh tortillas.
This new store at 7700 Samuell Blvd. is set to open at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, per The Dallas Morning News.
