In the age of visual communication, photographs are a way of showing a scene to those not close enough to see it for themselves. More than that, though, they are a snapshot of a moment in time, freezing a point in time that might pass too quickly to be seen with the naked eye. Stemming from her career in photojournalism, photographer Candice Chase has focused her talents on creating a series of nontraditional photographic images of boxers frozen in time as they deliver blows and participate in conditioning exercises. Her current exhibition highlights the moments of abstraction found in a body in motion. Constant Pressure: Photographs by Candice Chase shows now through August 11 at the H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery at El Centro College in Downtown Dallas. Call 214-860-2115.
Mondays-Fridays. Starts: July 30. Continues through Aug. 11
